How many of you participate in buddy reads? And, what has your experience been like?
I’ve taken part in one or two buddy reads on Goodreads with people but find that they’re not as exciting as I think they’ll be. One was definitely more fun than the other, probably because of the person it was with.
Now, the buddy reads I find MOST exciting are the ones that I do with my BFF, Ignited Moth. We don’t do them as often as you would think either. Maybe every couple of years?
Tomorrow we start A Plague of Giants by Kevin Hearne. I can’t wait. 🙂

Nah not my real life buddies. Oh hang on one can but he said he’s grown up now and doesn’t do that kind of thing. I don’t know if you know who Mirka Moira is but she said she will never grow up. When you grow up you get old and die. That’s my philosophy on life too
I don’t know who that is but that’s a great life philosophy!
I’ve never done a buddy read but I want to some day. I’m afraid I won’t be able to read fast enough to keep up, I think that’s what’s been holding me back😊
I worry about that too.But with my BFF we just give ourselves a month to complete at our own pace and then discuss whenever we’ve both finished.
Does booktubathon count? That is this week (Jul 30 – Aug 5). There are reading challenges, video challenges on youtube, and instagram contests, plus twitter sprints. I’m doing live videos on Instagram each night to recap my reading progress if you want to join us!

Of course, now that I’ve started it, I’ve had limited time again lol. After this weekend I should be free to binge though. 😉
I’ve done buddy reads with varying levels of success. I read a Georgette Heyer book (oh my goodness, that was something else) with 2 ladies when I was on booklikes, just to see if I could handle a “romance” book. turns out I couldn’t.
But I’ve found that I have to do 1 on 1 buddy reads. And even those wear me out. I haven’t done one this year and probably won’t for a couple of years.
I don’t think I could handle romance either, it’s just not my jam. If it happens a little bit in a book but isn’t the main plot point, I can handle that. Mushy stuff just really isn’t me.
