Polar Vortex 2.0

Just ten short days ago, I was complaining about the -9 weather we were having here in Michigan. Today it’s -10 with a windchill making it feel more like -40. The Governor has declared a state of emergency, the county has shut down and even the US Postal Service has said, Fuck this. For some crazy reason my boss decided that the pharmacy should stay open, but a few of us got the day off because there is no way that many people are coming in. If they do, they’re bat shit crazy.

In this house, we’re curled up in the blankets on the couch, reading, snuggling and playing video games. (I beat Pokemon Let’s Go!) The husband monster is fully absorbed in Kingdom Hearts 3. Time to fill up on coffee and chai lattes to fuel lazy winter day activities.

Also, it’s Ignited Moth’s birthday today so make sure to pop on over to her blog and wish her a Happy Birthday. She really is the bestest friend a girl could ask for.

Samus says, “Get back in the blankets!”

  1. Stay warm my friend! πŸ™‚ We just hit -2 over here in jolly ol’ Britain and the country has almost shut down over it! if we ever got as low as -10 (!) I think we would probably just implode (we’re such wusses over here, -2 is like the literal end of the world to Brits!!) πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚

    1. We’ve managed to stay tucked away warm inside, other than potty breaks for the dogs. Which are super quick because their paws start freezing almost immediately. This is the coldest I ever remember it getting!

  2. Awww, thank you for the birthday shoutout! You’re the best! ❀
I'm so glad you guys didn't have to go out in this weather. Stay warm and enjoy your reading. πŸ˜€

  3. I don’t deal with much cold weather where I live, but I know how much of a buzzkill it can be when it gets overwhelming. Hope you manage to stay warm.

    1. Thanks, I will. The little event thing I did last year was in March for Women’s History month and I’ve been considering whether to do it again. What do you think? Should I? I thought it was fun but I wonder if a lot of people would do it again.

      1. Tricky – Always difficult to know whether people would want to do this Women’s history month again.
FEMbruary is quite versatile because it can be figures, book reading etc …
I had figure painting ideas left over so was happy to be involved again for FEMbruary and March.

  4. Glad you got to stay in during that weather. I couldn’t believe that some places were still trying to stay open. (I’m in Chicago.) We just bunkered down for two days and didn’t leave the house at all. It was crazy. Hopefully we won’t get another cold front like that for a while…

  5. Holy shit…the temperature has evened out around here, but I also think this is a week later lol. Of course I got sick because my lungs can’t handle these weather changes. Unless my prescription were life or death, I would not be going out to get it or I’m sending my husband. I don’t do well in the cold.
