The first new recipe of 2020! With it only being 13 days into the new year when I baked it, that’s not a bad start. You know the drill by now….the bananas were going bad. (OR, should we say they were going extra good??)
Not only do they smell delicious when baking, their flavor backs it up.
The whole bunch of bananas went bad this time. Mr. C&M just triumphantly points to them and says, “Guess you have to make banana something now!”
He’s a pest really.
So off to the store I went to buy a can of pumpkin puree. I had all the other ingredients on hand. The dogs love it when there is unused pumpkin at the end of a baking endeavor. It means there will be some pumpkin goodness in their breakfast or dinner. (100% pumpkin puree only for dogs. Not the pumpkin pie in a can. Works great on upset dog bellies too.)
America, fuck yeah! We had a relatively quite day on the fourth. We stayed home, had a friend over, grilled some food and binge watched Stranger Things season 3. (Not finished yet.) It also gave me time to do a little baking. I agreed to make something for another fourth of July party but the boys wanted something to snack on in the mean time.
The nice thing once you get into baking is you usually have so many supplies left over from previous recipes. I only had to purchase Fruity Pebbles and a small container of greek yogurt for this one.
This recipe actually sounds better than it is. The cake itself is very dense, with light flavoring. If I were to rate it overall, it would be 3 out of 5 stars.
Easy enough to make though and it will impress your stoner friends.
Bananas do not go bad in this household! I had two overly ripe bananas and I was determined to make something tasty out of them and I found the perfect recipe. (I really do not like wasting food, I will scour the internet looking for recipes with random ingredients that I need to use or throw away soon, in the hopes of not trashing as much as possible.) Plus, we needed fuel for cleaning and packing up the place. If all things go smoothly, we close on our new house this week.
