Merry Jolly Holidays!

It’s almost Christmas and I find myself STILL needing to complete shopping for a couple of people and grab a few more things for Christmas dinner/dessert. So, I thought I would take a moment to say Happy Holidays to all my blog friends before I disappear for roughly 3-4 days.

Happy Holidays!

I hope you have a wonderful time and give/get wonderful things and eat delicious food. We all deserve it. ❤

Christmas 2020 Book Haul

Merry after Christmas folks! I hope you all enjoyed whatever holiday you celebrate and did your best to make it memorable.

What did the Cupcakes and Machetes household do? It was just the two of us which was honestly very relaxing. Usually Mr. C&M makes Christmas dinner but we decided this year to have Chinese food instead. We’ve never done that before and I recommend it if you don’t feel like cooking. However, I also recommend that you check which Chinese restaurants are actually open BEFORE the day of. We had to drive to another town since we did not plan properly lol.

Mr. C&M managed to snag a PS5 two weeks after release so I got to be the spoiled one this year. I’m writing this post from my new bomb ass laptop. (The kids still use that phrase right??) It kicks the shit out of my previous one. I look forward to blogging more now.

Mr. C&M also wins Christmas because he bought me the Dune series and they’re all matching editions. I’m flattered that he remembered that that matters to me after some slight mishaps with the Witcher series this past spring. (The right covers, just mismatched sizes. Book diva here.)

Photo also features my super awesome new fuzzy slippers that make me feel like I have fat bear feet.

What present are you most excited about that you received?

Thanksgiving 2020

Just popping in to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving this week! Sure, it’s going to be a weird one but just make the best of it that you can. 🙂

Mr. C&M had a successful deer hunt opening weekend. He brought down his first deer and he killed it instantly which is great. We had to buy a deep freezer which I’m excited about because now I can bulk buy things and go out to the stores less.

My science fiction reading is going well but I’ll detail that in an end of the month post.

I’ve been thinking about New Year’s resolutions for the blog already and I’m excited about them. In all fairness, they’re probably not that exciting but any change after this year seems big lol.

How do you plan to spend your Thanksgiving?

We’re doing a quiet day at home with good food, books and video games. So an average day in this household, but with more food. 😛

Fa-La-La-La Chaos

I survived my holiday trip north but I also survived……my first ever Black Friday shopping!

I’ve only ever worked on the dreaded craziest retail day of the year. I took it off for our trip north this year so I thought I’d revive the Black Friday tradition that my aunt had with my grandmother before she passed away.

Well folks….I don’t think I ever need to do it again. Lol. Once was enough, curiosity sated.

The plus side is that I did make some head way with shopping for people, including Mr. C&M. Now, I have to get the house clean so I can decorate. (Also, we have to buy a new fake tree.) The way my brain works, everything must be clean before the decorations go up. We’ve barely been home lately, so I’ve got some work cut out of me.

I love Christmas. It’s second only to Halloween for me. I just love getting gifts for the people in my life that matter the most.

Hopefully, I will squeeze in some holiday baking as well.

I haven’t finished Red Mars yet, it’s just so slow going, but I’m really looking forward to no more themed reading. I’m not a Christmas book person so it’s a free for all on what I read next.

Do you enjoy Christmas or are you a Scrooge?

The Christmas Tag!

I freaking LOVE Christmas. I LOVE giving people presents. Ignited Moth posted this tag and I’m totally doing it too.

1.) What is your favorite Christmas film?

Home Alone, Home Alone 2, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

2.) Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Real. We were going to buy a new fake one but turns out, decent ones are pretty expensive. So this year it will be real and next year we’ll invest in a new fake one.

3.) What is your favorite Christmas song?

Ooooo. I’m not actually a huge fan of Christmas songs. If I did have to pick though it would probably be Jingle Bell Rock.

4.) Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

Like a child, I still go to bed early and get up at like 6 am. My husband hates it but I run through the house with the dogs Christmas morning, banging on doors, waking people up to open presents. >:D

5.) Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

YES. One small present each.

6.) What tops your Christmas tree?

A lit up star.

8.) What is the best thing about Christmas for you?

Giving people presents and hopefully seeing an expression of joy on their faces when they open them.

9.) What is your favorite festive food or treat?

Hmmm. I really enjoy all the chocolate peppermint things that come out this time of year.

10.) What is top of your Christmas wish list this year?

Ignited Moth’s wish is also mine lmao.
