Potted

The quest this summer is maximum living. I’m on a never-ending quest of fun. (Outside of work because I can’t escape that currently.) Photography, dog training, hiking, disc golf, hanging out with friends, volunteering, traveling, etc.

See? That’s quite a bit of stuff planned.

Why not add one more thing to that list?!

While I’ve been planning to transplant some lilies and eventually pop some annuals in for easy color, I wasn’t planning on going gardening crazy. Then, I was at the store for something completely unrelated, I began flicking through their seeds for sale. They were cheap and here we are:

Mr. C&M requested the cherry tomato plants. So, for our first ever veggie garden (I had them when I was little, before I met my husband. My grandparents were big gardeners) we’re attempting to grow tomatoes and a variety of peppers. As food prices continue to grow, I thought it an advantageous venture. We’ll see what happens!

This past weekend was great. We spent a lot of time with friends, but it all started with going out to a super fancy restaurant as a belated birthday gift. It’s been a minute since we had a date night, and the food was beyond amazing. The desserts were absolutely to die for and we’re planning a dessert and drinks night with Mr. and Mrs. Moth sometime in the future.

Behold! My chocolate berry cake. That’s a chocolate cake with a citrus ganache and mixed berry sorbet. In the background, Mr. C&M’s super fancy pineapple upside cake.

What is the best dessert you’ve had recently??

Best Recipes of 2019

2019 was not a year of baking for me with Mr. C&M being sick for almost half the year. Hopefully, 2020 will change that, especially since we received a bunch of fancy new kitchen gadgets for the holidays. Not all of these recipes involved baking, which was a fun change as well. In no particular order, here are my favorites of the past year:

Thick and Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Summer Berry Cheesecake Salad

Lemon Cupcakes with Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting

Peanut Butter Fudge Cheesecake Parfaits

Mr. C&M may even get in on the baking in 2020 and you can be sure, I’ll share the results with you guys.

I hope your 2020 is full of delicious foods!

Peanut Butter Fudge Cheesecake Parfaits

Don’t you wish you were one of my coworkers? If you didn’t before, you might now.

These tasty lil’ bitches were not hard to make except for ONE thing: homemade whipped cream. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, don’t be like me and make sure you read the recipe all the way through. If you’re like me, still haven’t unpacked your stand mixer and don’t own a hand mixer, prepare to work your muscles. It takes a LONG time before whipped cream takes form with regular man power. After 15 minutes, I was forced to ask my husband for help. We’ve learned now that he’s a human power mixer. It still took another 15 minutes before it was the correct consistency.

Despite that, these were awesome. Pretty rich though so most people could only eat a half at a time.

Recipe here.
