Bombshells, Vol. 1: Enlisted – Comic Review

I continued to feel a bit lost throughout this volume as well. I don’t think it was entirely my lack of background knowledge, scenes jumped before I knew what exactly was going on in the first place.

I still enjoyed it, the artwork was fantastic. I like the batgirl copycats distributing justice and the sea battles with Aquawoman.

I’m ready to admit that I don’t care about Stargirl or Supergirl at all. I don’t know what it is but I just cannot connect with them.

A better volume than the last. We have aliens who try to best Ivy, Batman’s identity almost stolen from Selina, and Harley making a dangerous and deadly plan.

For the first time in this series, I very much look forward to the next edition.

Hopping on the meh-train to meh-town. I would love to blame it on me being sick and crabby but I don’t think I would have been that impressed with this volume even if I was operating at 100%.

The only story line I was into was when Catwoman and Harley were going to bust up a dog fighting gang. Turns out, they weren’t really the culprits of the missing dogs. While it was still entertaining, I won’t lie that it bothered me greatly that the resolution involved them telling someone their dog was dead but here’s a new one that needs a home! Happily ever after. Previous dog replaced and forgotten.

There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with this volume, it just did not have a lot of story telling power in my opinion.

I won’t lie, I was a little lost on some of the origin stories for the characters in this one. I’m still not exactly sure why the Night Witches turned on Supergirl and Stargirl. I re-read that part twice and can’t make heads or tails of it. Neither heroine is a favorite though so I moved on.

This definitely re-peaked my interest in Wonder Woman.

The artwork was great and I think they toned down the sex appeal compared to other comics. There wasn’t a close up shot of anyone’s massive camel toe that I noticed.

Overall, I really like the idea of the Bombshells being a secret weapon in WWII. I think I’ll try the next volume and see how it goes from there.

Gotham City Sirens, Vol.1: Union – Comic Review

4 out of 5 stars

DC Comic’s three best ladies (in my opinion) move in together and of course, crazy antics ensue.
There are clearly some things I missed jumping into this one however, it was nothing that the comic didn’t review so you knew what was going on.

Catwoman will always be my favorite.

The artwork was spot on.

Holy Crap Batman!

If you haven’t heard about the shootings at a Colorado screening of The Dark Knight Rises you probably live under a rock. But just in case you’re not from the States you can get all caught up right here.

Now obviously none of this was under control of Mr. Bruce Wayne himself but you might be surprised how many double takes you get now while wearing a Batman shirt running your errands.

I didn’t even think twice before I put on the shirt. Regardless I received an uncountable amount of double takes between all the stores I stopped at in one day. It REALLY pissed me off. These people are playing right into one man not only ruining and ending lives but also attempting to ruin Batman.

Needless to say I won’t let this damper my love of the Bat, nor will I stop wearing the bat signal shirt.

Because you can’t keep the Dark Knight down!

P.S. Michelle Pfeiffer is the best Catwoman ever! (In my opinion.)
