2016 was the year that I seriously began baking. It started with the desire for homemade zucchini bread and grew from there. 2017 is going to be a year of many more new adventures for me in the kitchen, (I’ve never made a pie before!) so I thought I would honor the best recipes of 2016.
Oh, did you think you were safe from pumpkin recipes since it’s long past Halloween? Well dear reader, you don’t know me very well. I will push the pumpkin all the way until Thanksgiving.
These were delicious sugar cookies, however the pumpkin didn’t really come through. Despite that, I would definitely make them again.
I didn’t realize until I had mixed all my ingredients together that I was supposed to be baking these in glass loaf pans. I don’t have any so I used regular loaf pans and began checking the bread after about 35 minutes. My total bake time ended up being around 50 minutes. I also skipped the pecans.
This was divine. The flavor was a perfect blend of pumpkin and banana and the texture moist. Perfect to bring as an addition to any holiday party this season.
I haven’t made homemade cookies since I was little and I would make them with my aunt every time I came over to her house. So I went with something simple for my first go in oh say, 15+ years. Chocolate chip cookies.
Now these tasted fine, but I’m not a huge fan of cake-like cookies. So if you love soft cookies, this is just the thing for you.
