You guys. I am out of control.
I made friends with the owner of a nursery in town. He’s going to supply all my crazy ideas I have brewing. This is probably trouble.
Sunday, I spent several hours weeding, transplanting lilies and planting annuals. I somehow pulled a muscle in my neck doing it and am now living on ibuprofen.

As you can see, I went with a black, purple and yellow color scheme. (Our house is pale yellow.) this year I chose pansies and a new discovery to me, double petunias. I highly dislike petunias but DOUBLE petunias are cool and apparently hail from Victorian times. SOLD.
I also purchased four sweet basil plants and a rosemary plant.
My zinnias are sprouting but no sign of the pepper plants yet.
We also have a new plan for a part of our backyard that doesn’t grow much grass.
SEND HELP.
What is your favorite flower?
Ooooooh, your black flowers are spooky, like you. I like flowers that come up every year and slowly spread as time passes. I don’t want to have to do a ton with them. I told you I got funky and bought zucchini seeds, but now I can’t tell if I’m growing vegetables or weeds, so we’ll find out. Those two dollar seed packets are dangerous. Are you going to volunteer with the plant people this weekend, or is it all BBQ all weekend?
Most of my garden, I don’t actually have to do much with. Just weed but I leave this front section for some annuals for a pop of color, and I get to try something different each year.
I volunteer with the plant people this weekend AND BBQ. It’s going to be a full weekend!
So wait—your problem is you don’t have ENOUGH plants, or you don’t have enough EDIBLE plants? Whichever it is, the solution is MORE PLANTS!! And I wish I was friends with a nursery owner…
My problem is that I probably have more plants than I can handle! I wouldn’t say that I have a green thumb. Although, I do better with outdoor plants than indoor.
I think you’re right though…..MORE PLANTS.
Cupcake, you are getting old. Pulling a muscle planting flowers, phhhht.
What you need is an airstrike with napalm bombs. That’ll solve those issues 😉
Hahaha, I know! I don’t even really know how I managed it. I think I was sitting in one position for way too long or something. I don’t remember doing anything and feeling it happen. Which means, I must be REALLY getting old!
Welcome to the club. Next stop, adult diapers! 😉
D:
Cooooool 🤘🏼 The neck pain is from using/straining muscles that you don’t usually use. Before any kind of gardening I always do some stretches. Yes you might look like a bit of a weirdo but it really helps. Gardening can be a full body workout so, like with the gym, it’s good to warm up and warm down. Admittedly my warm down is a few bottles of beer haha.
I’m definitely going to have to take this advice next time! Who knew?? You apparently lol.
Nothing wrong with a few bottles of beer!
Friends with a nursery owner? Oh my, that could be quite dangerous to your credit card. 🙂 I like your choices, and mostly I haven’t met a flower I don’t like, well, unless it’s a thug.
Haha! I wouldn’t say we were BFFs but I think he’ll remember me and continue to help me out and take my money. 😉
The black flowers are so cool! ❤ I definitely want to check out the nursery you go to some time when we're out that way. Have you ever been to Bordine's? We'll have to check that one out some time when you're out our way too. ^_^
I have not been to Bordine’s. Never heard of it but I trust your nursery opinions! I would love to take you this place. 😀
I don’t have a green thumb at all, so I admire folks who can grow plants and raise a garden. Good job and keep it up!
Thank you. 🙂 I do better with outdoor plants than indoor. I have kept the pharmacy plant alive for 10 years that we received as a gift at opening. That’s to date my longest relationship with any plant.
Yo I love them! That’s yet another reason I want a house, so I can have a garden. Of course my bougie self LOVES roses lol. I have no idea how difficult they are to grow. I’ve bought mini ones from the super market, but I don’t have a lot of luck with plants. Hopefully I can learn!
Roses are pretty easy, I think. (Look at me, pretending to be an expert.) My grandparents had them back in the day and I don’t remember anything difficult about them at all. I think you just have to trim them back in the fall. I consider them now and again, but I really don’t enjoy getting stuck with thorns.
I know the thorns are an issue, but I’m surprised they’re that easy!
So, you made friends with a nursery guy. I need to send you my list. 🙂 I have a friend with a discount at Proven Winner. Sometimes, I can’t help myself and send her a list.
Haha, I’m sure he would be happy to make any sales. Although, I’m not so chummy as to have earned a discount yet. I’ll keep working on that.
