Do you smell that? It smells like August this morning. That means my hiatus is officially over! I am ready to get back to blogging. I should have content for the next month without even trying very hard. There will be a vacation post, a book review or two and hopefully a recipe besides my usual ramblings.
This coming week is finals for Accounting and then I am free for 3 weeks until school starts back up for the Fall semester. I passed my Public Health and Disease class two weeks back now. That class was mostly about Covid so it was rather easy. While on my 3 week hiatus from school, I have big plans around my house as well. I need to make some good progress on the bathroom and set up a desk area for school. I currently take up about 1/3-1/2 of the dining room. :3
I am not taking any school courses next summer if I can help it. The summer is just too busy to be locked inside, LEARNING.
To reset my brain before finals, and to get out there and enjoy the outdoors, I went for a hike by myself on our local trail while my husband took his little brother kayaking down the river. It was the peace, quiet and beauty I needed. Until the mosquitos came and made me their personal slurpy machine.
The goal this summer was to get out hiking more. I did achieve that but not quite on the level I was hoping. Of course, there is still summer left and autumn is my absolute favorite so we’ll have to squeeze in some more outdoor adventures before the snow hits.
Exciting new adventure status: this coming weekend, we will be doing a paranormal investigation in an old prison in Ohio. I will definitely have to post about that.
How was your July? I lurked in the shadows while on my hiatus, liking and commenting on things here and there but tell me something exciting I may have missed!
Mrs B commiserates with being a mosquito slurpy machine. When we go walking the bugs completely ignore me and just swarm her. Even walking down a sidewalk, if there’s a strip of grass, out the bugs come!
And glad to see the reset button worked ๐
We’ve got some rail trails around our area that we need to try, both for hiking and for biking. Do you use your camera phone for the pix or do you have a “real” camera?
Poor Mrs B! At least when it was happening to me it was because I was the only option lol.
Just my phone camera, although I’ve been considering a “real” camera again as well but those things are expensive, even the beginners ones. :3
Oh my goodness, aren’t cameras expensive? It blows my mind every time someone starts talking about them and then prices get mentioned. My sister’s partner does wedding photography on the side and the costs of her various lenses and stuff just make me shudder.
For us plebes though, the camera phone seems good enough, hahahahahaa ๐
I will look at a camera and be all, “Oh that’s not so bad” Then my eyes keep going and that’s without the fancy lenses and those are usually more than the camera!
So yes, camera phone with a photo editor will work just fine for awhile lol. Heck, upgrading my phone would be cheaper. :3
My phone is about 4 years old. It’s really reached the end of it’s lifecycle but I don’t like what I’ll have to change to, so I’m delaying as long as I physically can ๐
Mine is about 2.5 years old. It’s an iPhone 8 so there have been quite a few upgrades but I’ve never been one that has had to have the latest anything. I just know the cameras have gotten a lot better in them.
Yassss!! So excited you’re back from your blogging hiatus! โค โค โค It's never the same without your posts to look forward to.
Loving those photos from your hiking adventure and looking forward to your upcoming posts about your vacation, ghost hunting, etc. ๐
Thanks, it feels good to be back! ๐
Excluding school, it’s been a fairly adventurous summer. At least compared to last summer lol. I am very excited for Fall shenanigans. I really want to do another autumn hike. Perhaps we can do an autumn hike together, not hot and no bugs?
That sounds amazing! ๐
August smells very, very strongly of smoke. Just like July did. But I’m glad that it’s better there. And I’m glad that your hiatus was a success!
Thank you. ๐ I assume that you do not mean campfire smoke and therefore, that does not sound lovely at all. D:
Nope. Can confirm, not lovely.
Welcome back! Love the pics, nice to see you had a restful and fun hiatus ๐
Thank you. It was just what I needed. ๐
That’s some Pure Michigan right there. Love it. We need to make our plan to meet in the middle before you book all your weekends through the end of the year! I wanted to get out and walk more this year — I’m slow, but I’ll walk forever — but it was just so blazing hot ALL THE TIME. Now that it’s better, we’re going out more.
Yes we do! But to be fair, I’ll always squeeze you into my schedule the best I can. I know it’s hard to plan when to get away. So no rush. ๐
I don’t walk particularly fast either but then, that’s how the mosquitos get you when you’re in the wooded area without wind. I do not enjoy walking in high humidity at all. We kept saying we were going to get into running this summer and that absolutely did not happen once lmao.
Ahhh good ol’ time to decompress and reset! I agree, classes during summer are rough. I hope your return to class will be easy once you recharge during this month!
Thank you! Now that I have a semester under my belt, I will know more what to expect so hopefully I will be better prepared. ๐
Congrats on your school work and finals. Pat yourself on the back – you earned it! When I finished my degree as an adult, I framed that sucker and hung it on the wall so I could see it. Then, after a while, I didn’t need to see it anymore because I could feel it. I’d done it, and I could appreciate the accomplishment for the rest of my life. I’ve never regretted the time and effort it took. You go, girl!
Thank you! That’s a good idea. I should definitely hang it on the wall for awhile. It’s stressful but it does feel good to be doing it and getting it accomplished finally. It will feel really good to tack it onto any future resumes that I might have to do. ๐
Ah I saw you creeping and was very happy to be creeped on โฅ I’m glad you have a break; you need some decompression time.
It’s been great being off. I’ve still been busy just because it’s summer and that’s when everyone wants to hang out but that’s fun stuff so it’s okay. I’ve dived into a big epic fantasy while I have the time and I’ve been loving it. I have one full week and weekend before school picks up again and I have a lot to get done so that this semester is less stressful. ^_^
Yesss, you need those off times. The brain needss a reset. Hell while I’m working I’ll say “Okay I need a brain break” and play some stupid little phone game to just give myself a rest.
I’m on vacation for two weeks in September and I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to work on. I always try to get ahead on or make more progress in some project or another. I should also clean…like a LOT.
I made a list of things to accomplish while I’m off. I’ve made progress but not as much as I would have liked. Still progress though! Several people were off last week at work so I was so tired afterwards everyday that I didn’t get much done besides except reading. (Which was actually kind of awesome.)
Good luck with whatever projects you pick!
