Merry after Christmas folks! I hope you all enjoyed whatever holiday you celebrate and did your best to make it memorable.
What did the Cupcakes and Machetes household do? It was just the two of us which was honestly very relaxing. Usually Mr. C&M makes Christmas dinner but we decided this year to have Chinese food instead. We’ve never done that before and I recommend it if you don’t feel like cooking. However, I also recommend that you check which Chinese restaurants are actually open BEFORE the day of. We had to drive to another town since we did not plan properly lol.
Mr. C&M managed to snag a PS5 two weeks after release so I got to be the spoiled one this year. I’m writing this post from my new bomb ass laptop. (The kids still use that phrase right??) It kicks the shit out of my previous one. I look forward to blogging more now.
Mr. C&M also wins Christmas because he bought me the Dune series and they’re all matching editions. I’m flattered that he remembered that that matters to me after some slight mishaps with the Witcher series this past spring. (The right covers, just mismatched sizes. Book diva here.)

I’m not really a gamer either. I’ll play something here and there. I inherited his PS4 now, so I’ve played a little of the remastered Spyro.

I seriously love this thing. It’s SO fast. I can’t wait to get everything transferred so I never have to look at my old laptop again. 😛
He actually bought me THREE pairs of slippers lmao. So I’m obviously set for awhile on those. I tried desperately to get him a new pair but he wears the most common men’s size and clearly everyone was buying them for people this year, working at home and whatnot. But, now I feel extra bad that I couldn’t find him any. D:

I had actually borrowed the first book from my little cousin so I’m pumped to have a whole matching set. I’ve already cracked open book 2. It’s SO much smaller than book 1. It’s kind of weird. 😛
My husband was on a mission to get that PS5. He stayed up all night when he got tips on possible releases. It was a little insane lol.

Oddly enough, I’ve never read Dune. Love the covers, though. I’ll trade you that fun fact for your PS5? And I always assumed your husband was cupcakes and you were machetes.
Haha, no he doesn’t have much to do with the blog. Once in a great while he’ll do a craft beer review.
I’m a recent Dune convert. I had heard for years that it was good but boring, and I don’t find that to be the case personally. If you’re the type of person who doesn’t enjoy political intrigue, then I wouldn’t recommend it.
I was going to ask if a cheetah ate your feet! At first I thought it was a stuffed animal. LOL! Those Dune covers are pretty cool to look at.
Okay, at the risk of sounding like an a-hole/idiot: why is everyone so jacked about the PS5 right now, and why can no one on Reddit seem to get one?
Oh it’s not just Reddit. They’re very hard to get everywhere. I will admit I could care less about getting one immediately, and usually my husband would just wait, but he was very excited for this console. Now that we have one, they are pretty freaking cool. The graphics are amazing and it has practically no load times. Plus, my husband has taken up streaming video games this last year and it has given him a leg up on the competition. 🙂

Haha! The main draw of the X so far has been loading times and the framerate smoothness along with games seemingly just looking a bit better. Probably the auto-hdr and other little tricks they use. Really enjoying it though. But still playing the ps4 as well. 😁
