August 2020 in Books

Three books is far better than the 1 book I read all of July. 😛

What can I say of August? Not a whole hell of a lot really. I’m ready and willing to head straight into autumn now thank you.

The first weekend in September will have me seeing my BFF FINALLY after 5 months of not seeing her other than on FaceTime.

By the way, I highly recommend drinking and FaceTime weekly with your favorite friend. It is the perfect way to finish out a week.

Anywho, onto the books!

4 out of 5 stars – This was a fun comic about villains and sidekicks. Nimona was a very fun, feisty character who found her way into many shenanigans.

4 out of 5 stars – I went into this not expecting much despite all the hype surrounding it and found myself pleasantly surprised. I found some scenes a bit hard to follow but I’m not sure it wasn’t just my attention span at the time. I will check out the next book.

5 out of 5 stars – The winning book of the month. I really enjoyed my time exploring this world and learning the beginning of Drizzt. I think I may just hop directly into the next book.

Books Purchased:

Roar by Cora Carmack – $1.00

Tarnished City by Vic James – $1.00

TOTAL: $2.12

I ALMOST made it all of August not buying a single book, but alas, I just had to walk by the book section of the dollar store. I’m always surprised when I find familiar books there and absolutely cannot resist picking them up. I MEAN THEY’RE ONLY $1. I haven’t even read the first book by Vic James BUT I own it and know I would be mad at myself for not picking the second book up for so cheap especially if I end up liking the series.

What treasures have you found at the dollar store lately?

    1. Haha, this is true. I was going to hop right into the next one but then I remembered that my BFF was bringing me books to borrow. So, it will be a minute before I get to the next one but I’m interested to see what happens next.

  1. Yesss! ❤ Our weekly video chats have been awesome! I can't wait to finally get to hang out in person soon. 😀
Glad you enjoyed all the stuff you read this month, and scored 2 books at the dollar store. Can't beat that kind of deal. I haven't been to a dollar store in way too long. I really wanna go check out their Halloween selection for this year. 🙂

    1. I bought some of that creepy cloth for the windows already lol. It sells out so fast so i snagged some up because I usually wait too long and it’s all gone. I also picked up some blueberry pie max melts and man, they smell delicious. 🙂

  2. Homeland has my interest piqued. Now I’m wondering if I should read this series first or the Icewind one where he was introduced. I have Gideon on my TBR list right now. I’m tearing through this book I bought based on the sample. Like I NEVER stop reading a kindle I’m in the midst of once I start, but this story was like “Nah, you’re reading me.” It’s called The Twisted Ones and I’m just a sucker for secret alien shit lol.

I hope you and Ignited Moth have the best of times!

    1. I was told by a few people that this is a fine place to start the Drizzt story. It literally starts with his birth so I’m not sure how much you’ll miss if you don’t start with Icewind. Might be better to ask an expert on the series though lol.
I like to rotate back and forth between physical books and my kindle. I’m currently reading Crooked Kingdom that Ignited Moth lent me. (She gave me three to borrow and they be all i read until I’ve finished them all. We’ll see. I’m such a mood reader haha.)
We did have a great time! Thank you. 🙂 It feel really good to finally see her in person and being complete jackasses. 😛

      1. I think I added the one you have here. From what I can see it’s the first one whereas the Icewind one is like the 4th? That might be the first on he wrote, but my anal self feels weird not starting with the first in a series lol.

I usually read my Kindle on my lunch break then I rotate between three or four others because I’m a dumb ass who loves being overwhelmed lol.

There is nothing more fun that acting like total jackasses with your bestie. Whenever I see my BFF, we always come up with some new stupidity that has my husband shaking his head. One time we were ordering food and she saw “fried onions” one of us started calling them frunions and we lost our shit about that for the rest of the night.
