The Book Blogger Inside Tag

I stole this little beaut from the lovely The Shameful Narcissist. I really enjoy reviewing books so I thought a tag about how the writing happens would be fun. Plus, it’s been a very long time since I’ve done a tag of any sort. So I’m going to sit here, sipping my delicious coffee with strawberry cheesecake creamer and try not to give super grumpy answers since I’m not a real human until the coffee kicks in.

Where do you typically write your blog posts?

On my very comfortable sofa on the end with the chaise lounge. Usually covered in one or two dogs with the cat peeking over my shoulder from the back of the couch.

How long does it generally take you to write a book review?

I’ve never timed it before but I would guess about a half hour. Depends on my feelings about the book though. If I absolutely loved or hated it, I might bang it out quicker. If it was just meh, I might stare intently at the computer screen for a few minutes between each paragraph, trying to figure out what to say next.

When did you start your book blog?

Technically, I started this blog six years ago, but it wasn’t a book blog then. It started off as a place for me to rant about things that pissed me off. Obviously, it was less satisfying because it died off fairly quickly. I came back four years later (2 years ago) and revamped it to try my hand at book reviews besides just on Goodreads. (Ignited Moth and I did run an animal blog previous to my coming back to this blog for about a year or so.)

What is the worst thing about having a book blog in your opinion?

When I’ve been incredibly slow at reading and have large gaps in my book reviews. But, that is part of the reason that this blog isn’t entirely about books. Like it says in my blog bio, I find myself endlessly entertaining so I’ll talk about pretty much anything.

What is the best thing about having a book blog in your opinion?

I really enjoy the blogging community and I’ve met some super fun people since getting serious with this blog again. Whether we’re talking about books or not, the people are awesome.

What blog post have you had the most fun writing so far?

I have no freaking clue. My ‘Light My Fire’ section is usually written when my blood is boiling about something. Anything with immense passion is fun.

What is your favorite type of blog post to write?

This question is almost the same as the last and that ignites my crankiness a little. Whether it’s about books or politics, if it gets me all fiery, it’s all the more fun.

When do you typically write?

Most of the time, first thing in the morning while I’m enjoying my coffee. (Much like this post!) Sometimes, if I know that I’ll be a little cramped for time, I’ll write the post the night before and then just stick it up on the blog in the morning so that it only takes a couple of minutes max. My time management skills are not the best in the morning.

Do you review every book you read?

Yes. How else am I going to keep up with my Goodreads yearly challenge?

How do you write your book reviews? With a cup of coffee or tea? With Netflix? Cuddled with your furbaby?

Omg, I’ve answered this all before this question. Pay attention! Wake up. Chug that coffee/tea.

When do you right your book reviews? Right after finishing the book? Two weeks after finishing the book?

If not right after finishing the book, maybe the next day when I’ve thought about it more and I have more time to do the book justice.

How often do you post?

I try to post every other day if possible. It ebbs and flows though. Sometimes it can be every day for several days or nothing for half a week. Apparently, not only am I a mood reader, I’m a mood blogger as well.

I’m not going to hassle anyone to do this tag. Just do it if you think you’ll have fun!

  1. Aww, that Zelda pic is so cute. She looks so cozy! ^_^
Strawberry cheesecake creamer sounds delicious. I just saw that Bigby Coffee now has some sort of Strawberry shortcake cream freeze drink now.
Fun tag post! 🙂 Your gif choice (as per usual) was excellent. 😉

  2. First thing in the morning?? Goddamn…I used to try getting up early to get shit done, and I’d usually wind up going back to bed. I’m so behind on my book reviews I’m STILL doing ones from books I finished last November. This is why I keep notes. It seems like everyone who’s anyone reviews with a fur baby and coffee close by. I mean why wouldn’t you?

    1. Best way to review! This is about as productive as I get in the morning though. I try to workout in the morning but lately the boys have been leaving for work late because our roommate won’t get up on time. (I don’t like working out in front of people so I’ll only do it when no one is here.)

      1. I used to jog in the morning before it got to hot, but I had to stop when I’d just fall back to sleep and be completely useless at work lol. I think the same thing happened when I’d get up early to right. I’m just not a morning person no matter how hard I try :p
